STORM~RainbowPlush, DEV Remix! created by Devnet83 10 years ago
My friend Amity63 downloaded some Musicshake tunes last night, including "Storm" by RainbowPlush. Amity63 falls asleep whilst listening to rock or metal when she is taking Lyrica for nerve pain. She set the playlist going + forgot it was on "Repeat Song" rather than "Repeat Playlist".
So she ended up accidentally having Rock 'n' Roll dreams whilst "Storm" played over + over. Ciaran Hollander's computer shows - amidst other, much smaller numbers - in the column that lists the number of times a song is played: other songs may be played 8 or 12 times, but 'Storm,' RainbowPlush, times played = 150.
The song is worthy of playing on Repeat, but maybe not 150 times in a row. I'd bet RainbowPlush might be surprised that the song was played 150 times by a fan last night. No need to be frightened; there's naught stalker-y going on here. (LOL) Amity was AWAKE for about 5 playings and asleep for about 145. .
Having said that: it's a very good song. I'm impressed with the fact that the song - at least until I got hold of it - sounds more like a short Instrumental piece between main vocal tracks on a rock album than like a typical Musicshake item.
I hope RainbowPlush doesn't mind my tinkering with "Storm," but it is one of those songs that gets stuck in one's head, as it were, and so it really got hold of me too, and thus it inspired me, and I let my creativity run amok this time. In fact, it ran SO amok that I ended up needing to edit out more than half of my resulting monster-megasong's data, because it overwhelmed the software's ability to process it! I had added too much additional material to the original song. (By now I'm starting to make my friends + me sound like a gaggle of looneys. We are.)
I've a strong tendency, as my Musicshake "career" clearly demonstrates, to produce prodigiously long songs. This one was vastly complicated by having way too many instruments as well. (I'm laughing at myself as I write this.) So I had to eliminate several tracks and about a third of the song length. BUT, I did NOT eliminate ANY of the original song's musical instruments or original musical score. Those are still intact. I only removed a portion of the too-abundant material I had added.
I had also (I am now laughing outright) added too many different variations in key and chords. (What on Earth is the matter with me?!! Musical OCD/Tourette's?!) So as I was removing some of the excessive length and instruments, I simplified the chord arrangements I'd added, as well.
I kept the song's original existing composition and instruments, as composed and selected by RainbowPlush, and I kept some of what I had added to it. Following the song's original key, I kept the song's tendency toward A sharp minor and E minor (though it's difficult to find chords in E minor on the list; so I went to E sharp minor here + there, as chords in that key are abundant); the chords I added are largely around A sharp minor, with some exceptions I chose here and there. I did favour one chord in a major key, in G major, because it was an interesting chord. Keep in mind, please, that I am a rank Amateur. I literally "play it by ear"!
I hope this still-ponderous remix song processes all right now in the software; I am eating up much of the rest of my AT&T prepaid data package plan doing this. I very much enjoyed composing this and I like the original song, so it is worth it. I do hope others agree.
Cheers! ~ Dev.
